Tras algunos signos de la inflexibilidad del sistema político japonés: el partido liberal demócrata

Abstract

Durante el período Meiji, los partidos políticos japoneses se concertaron en torno a las élites y el objetivo esencial de alcanzar el progreso económico y la modernización fue consumado a través de un reducido grupo no necesariamente "visible" que gravitaba alrededor del emperador, siendo el genro (consejo de ancianos) el más exitoso de estos 1. A principios del siglo XX la actividad política en el archipiélago cobró nuevos matices y en la etapa de 1918 – 1932, conocida como Gobierno de los Partidos, tomaron fuerza las prácticas civilistas y de mayor participación política que fue quebrada por las restricciones e imposiciones del período militarista. La larga permanencia del PLD dentro de la dirección del sistema político japonés ha provocado entre los estudiosos su inclusión en las categorías de partidos reconocidas por la ciencia política, a saber, democracia de partido único o sistema de partido dominante.
