Análisis de la cadena de cacao en la provincia de los ríos, Ecuador

Abstract

La producción de cacao en la Provincia de Los Ríos corresponde principalmente a los agricultores pequeños y medianos que por lo general no mecanizan sus operaciones, hacen uso intensivo de fertilizantes, hacen uso actualmente de las mejores (semillas) disponibles, manejan una baja densidad de plantas, no hacen buenas prácticas agrícolas y con el tiempo están mejorando las prácticas en época de verano. Estos agricultores tienen rendimientos en promedio de 0,67 Tn por hectárea y se encuentran en todos los cantones soyeros de la provincia de Los Ríos. Lamentablemente la poca eficiencia y rentabilidad de los materiales actuales de producción limita e incentiva a buscar otros cultivos en este tipo de productores, lo cual resulta un efecto cascada en los otros dos tipos de productores.
