Análisis de la guerra de las cervezas en México: Corona Extra vs. Tecate

Abstract

La cerveza es la tercera bebida más popular en todo el mundo, y es parte de muchas tradiciones nacionales como: fiestas, deportes, festivales, entre otros. Esta bebida a base de cebada representa un mercado gigantesco en ventas y en publicidad, tan solo el año pasado se produjeron 522.60 billones de dólares de ganancia en este mercado. Los cuatro países con mayor producción de cerveza, en orden respectivo son: China, Estados Unidos, Brasil y México. Este cuarto país es hogar de una de las cervezas más populares a nivel mundial: Corona Extra. Corona es indiscutiblemente la cerveza mexicana con mayor vente en el extranjero, pero dentro del país tiene una fuerte competencia con Tecate. Corona pertenece a Grupo Modelo, que a su vez fue adquirido por la multinacional Anheuser-Busch InBev en el 2013. Tecate pertenece a Cervecería Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma, que fue comprada por Heineken CM en el 2010. Ambas marcas de cerveza buscan liderar el mercado de cervezas ligeras en México, realizando fuertes acciones publicitarias y manteniendo una alta calidad. Pero al fina, ¿quién gana la guerra de las cervezas en México?
