O investimento externo direto no Brasil durante o governo FHC (1995-2002)

Abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo principal aprofundar a análise e fornecer evidências sobre o comportamento do investimento externo direto (IED) no Brasil, durante os dois governos do presidente Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Este tipo de investimento, realizado principalmente por empresas de capital estrangeiro (multinacionais e transnacionais), ganhou grande atenção na literatura econômica a partir da década de 1990, quando um grande volume de fluxos de capitais passou a ter como destino, países em desenvolvimento, como é o caso do Brasil. Utilizando uma revisão bibliográfica dos principais aspectos que demonstram a evolução e os motivos do aumento de fluxo do IED no país, a pesquisa pôde verificar que a partir de 1995, houve um aumento significativo dos fluxos de investimento externo direto para o Brasil, indicando que os processos de privatizações, fusões e aquisições, de empresas nacionais, foram os possíveis causadores deste crescimento do IED.
