Abstract

As relações econômicas em escala mundial provocaram diversas transformações na sociedade e isso ocasionou mudanças na relação entre elas e o meio ambiente, pois com o crescimento dos centros urbanos houve a intensificação da pressão no uso e ocupação de áreas urbanas. Este estudo teve o objetivo de analisar os impactos socioambientais provenientes da ocupação irregular de uma área onde foi instituída a comunidade Novo Horizonte, em Brasil Novo-PA, que ocuparam a área por causa do aumento do preço da propriedade urbana ocasionado pela construção da Usina Hidrelétrica de Belo Monte. No entanto, as famílias ficaram sujeitas a impactos socioambientais como resultado da falta de infraestrutura local.
