Evaluación del impacto económico entre Wal-Mart y el comercio tradicional en el municipio de Xico, Veracruz. México

Abstract

En la cabecera municipal de Xico, Veracruz, existe el comercio formal al por menor desarrollado por las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas (MiPyMEs) locales, y se desconoce el nivel de afectación económica propiciada hacia estas unidades económicas por la introducción de Bodegas Aurrerá, filial de Wal-Mart. Debido a ello, esta investigación planteó el objetivo de evaluar el impacto económico entre Wal-Mart y el comercio tradicional en el municipio de Xico Veracruz. Se aplicó una encuesta realizada en dicho municipio, para la cual se utilizó un muestreo estratificado y se analizaron los datos con el software Statistica, mediante estadística descriptiva y la prueba de ji-cuadrada. Una vez obtenidos los resultados, se encontró que a dos años de la llegada de Wal-Mart a este municipio, hubo un cierre de negocios de más del 10%, vinculado con las características propias al sector y no propiciado por la apertura de Wal-Mart. Se concluye que es baja la afectación económica de Wal-Mart al mercado de bienes y el comercio tradicional en el municipio de Xico, Veracruz.
