Peculiaridades de la integración comercial: la presencia de Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. en América Latina

Abstract

El objetivo del artículo es estudiar el papel de la primera minorista trasnacional, por sus ingresos por ventas, la estadounidense Wal-Mart Stores Inc., en el proceso de introducción hacia el mercado interno de América Latina, específicamente de México, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brasil y Chile, territorios donde se ubica actualmente. Este fenómeno implica influir en el consumo de los latinos a través de sus marcas propias y establecimientos más emblemáticos como Walmart Supercenter. Con ello, va generando un proceso de integración comercial informal al introducir la imagen del consumidor estadounidense en la elección y compra de bienes de consumo básico y enseres domésticos en el país de localización.
