Abstract

El hombre retomó y desarrolló los conocimientos naturalistas de los griegos y otras culturas orientales, en el Renacimiento, con el objeto de liberarse del dominio del pensamiento religioso impuesto por la Iglesia. Estimulado por la acción de los mercaderes que pretendían constituirse en una clase social (burguesía), los efectos económicos y culturales de las guerras religiosas (las cruzadas) y el propósito de organizar una nueva sociedad, distinta a la feudal, impulsó el desarrollo del conocimiento y la ciencia. El renacimiento se inicia en Inglaterra (s. VIII) y expande por los reinos francos. Se desarrolla en Venecia y Florencia (Italia) y generaliza impulsado por los movimientos intelectuales del “humanismo”, el “iluminismo” y la “ilustración”.
