Desarrollo Rural en América Latina

Abstract

El desarrollo histórico latinoamericano ha estado vinculado estrechamente al desarrollo de la agricultura “…la cual ha financiado gran parte del esfuerzo de industrialización de América Latina y los polos urbanos del hemisferio” y aún continúa teniendo un peso particularmente importante en el Producto Interno Bruto de los países, especialmente, si se le dimensiona con el valor agregado que experimenta en los procesos de industrialización. Se calcula que estos procesos agroindustriales y agroalimentarios representan aproximadamente un 20% del PIB total promedio de los países latinoamericanos. Esto, aunado a la participación de la agricultura, llega a representar en la mayoría de los países, porcentajes que van de un 25% a un 50% del PIB nacional .
