Abstract

Desde hace unos días el debate económico en nuestro país ha estado marcado fuertemente por nuestra eventual salida del Fondo Monetario Internacional y la creación para suplirle del Banco del Sur. Las razones para la salida son que las políticas recomendadas por el Fondo han sido severamente cuestionadas como causantes de regresiones en la distribución del ingreso y perjuicios a las políticas sociales, resultados que suenan paradójicos si tomamos en cuenta que sus estatutos declaran como objetivos principales la promoción de políticas cambiarias sustentables a nivel internacional, facilitar el comercio internacional y reducir la pobreza, objetivos que claramente no se han cumplido.
