Abstract

En la actualidad el mercado petrolero internacional ha dejado un poco de lado esa volatilidad que lo ha caracterizado en toda su historia, y de hace unos 8 años para acá la tendencia ha sido al aumento de sus precios. Impulsado por la fuerte demanda imperial (recordemos que ese odiado Imperio consume más del 25% del petróleo mundial y el 50% de la gasolina, y nosotros le proveemos de cerca del 10% de sus necesidades de crudo), el estable crecimiento económico europeo pero por sobre todas las cosas, con la vertiginosa demanda energética de China y la India, los niveles actuales de necesidades de petróleo se acercan a los 86 millones de barriles diarios (y ya se habla de 87 millones de barriles diarios de demanda para el año 2008).
