Una Aproximación Al Impacto De China En América Latina

Abstract

Los intercambios comerciales entre China y la región comenzaron en 1560, cuando se estableció la «ruta de la seda» entre la costa china y Acapulco a través de Manila. A pesar de esta larga historia, el verdadero salto en las relaciones se produjo a finales de la década de 1970, con la reforma y la apertura de China. Hoy, el vínculo puede analizarse desde diferentes ángulos: el económico, con un espectacular crecimiento de los intercambios o el político, con una consolidación de los lazos de amistad y un récord de visitas de altos funcionarios. Por eso, más allá de problemas que van desde la preocupación de Estados Unidos hasta el reconocimiento de Taiwán por parte de algunos países latinoamericanos, todo indica que las relaciones continuarán profundizándose en el futuro; en correspondencia con la voluntad política manifestada el pasado 4 de noviembre por la dirección China, en vísperas del recorrido previsto de su presidente por varios países de América Latina.
