Sostenibilidad de destinos turísticos: el caso de Tenerife y Lanzarote

Abstract

En este artículo se mide la sostenibilidad de dos destinos turísticos que han sido caracterizados de forma diferente según su estrategia de crecimiento. Por un lado, Tenerife ha seguido una estrategia de crecimiento basada en el turismo de masas. De forma alternativa, Lanzarote ha seguido una estrategia de crecimiento basada en la calidad del producto. Tras revisar las tres dimensiones del turismo sostenible, se proponen indicadores fundamentados en literatura previa para ser aplicados a Tenerife y Lanzarote. Resultados indican que Tenerife tiene un rendimiento mayor en aspectos económicos mientras que Lanzarote parece despuntar en aspectos medioambientales.
