Aplicación de micorrizas: Alternativa ecológica para la disminución o sustitución de fertilizantes químicos en el cultivo del maní

Abstract

La mayoría de los cultivos de interés económico, tanto en el mundo como en Cuba, se cultivan, en el afán de obtener cada vez mayores producciones, con la aplicación indiscriminada de plaguicidas y fertilizantes de síntesis químico que contaminan al medio ambiente. El cultivo del maní (Arachys hypogeae L), no queda exenta de esta situación. Por ello el uso de micorrizas podría contribuir al incremento de los rendimientos y a la disminución o sustitución de fertilizantes químicos, menos económicos y que dañan el medioambiente contaminando los suelos, el agua y los alimentos con los consecuentes problemas a la salud humana. Este artículo considera algunos elementos a tener en cuenta del por qué utilizar cepas de hongos micorrizógenos arbusculares en la fertilización del cultivo del maní en Cuba así como los principales beneficios que trae su aplicación. Se describe además algunos de los impactos negativos que trae el uso indiscriminado de fertilizantes químicos al medio ambiente y al hombre.
