Abstract

El objeto de este trabajo es proponer el diseño y construcción de una planta satélite de GNL para abastecer al sector industrial en la ciudad de Cuenca - Ecuador. La idea nace con la finalidad de reemplazar el consumo de gas licuado de petróleo (GLP) por el de gas natural licuado (GNL). Una de la principal razón es que el proceso de refinación para obtener el GLP encarece el costo de este combustible, por lo que una opción más económica sería el uso del GNL. Se prevé un incremento en la demanda de gas natural, y es por eso que el Gobierno del país actualmente ha desarrollado un proyecto de extracción y licuefacción de gas natural en el Golfo de Guayaquil, inicialmente la distribución del GNL se realizaría a través de las comercializadoras de GLP.
