Abstract

O presente estudo teve por objetivo fazer uma análise comparativa da deposição irregular de resíduos sólidos entre dois bairros de poder aquisitivo diferentes na cidade de Campina Grande do estado da Paraíba, visando identificar se existia mudança de comportamentos com relação à deposição dos resíduos descartados de forma irregular em áreas do bairro. Para tanto, foi adotado a pesquisa exploratória de caráter descritiva e a bibliográfica. Os dados foram coletados por meio de uma entrevista e no IBGE. Como na maioria dos municípios brasileiros, um dos grandes desafios que o município de Campina Grande enfrenta há alguns anos é a deposição irregular de resíduos sólidos em áreas urbanas. Nos dois bairros analisados, foi possível constatar a deposição irregular de resíduos sólidos em diversas áreas dos bairros, apesar da existência da coleta feita pelo município, mesmo que insuficiente no bairro da Ramadinha II, e da coleta feita pelas cooperativas de catadores de materiais recicláveis. Verificou-se também que o comportamento não varia muito entre as classes sociais.
