Decrecimiento Biofísico Y Desarrollo

Abstract

Los límites ambientales o la capacidad de carga del planeta es un asunto cada vez más presente en la agenda política internacional, y desde hace un tiempo en la social. Ciertamente tomará mayor fuerza conforme el tamaño del subsistema económico vaya acercándose a las dimensiones del sistema ecológico planetario. La tensión entre economía y límites ambientales se ha intentado resolver desde diversos puntos de vista, pero ciertamente desde dos grandes perspectivas: la de hacer compatibles y manejables el desarrollo o crecimiento económico y la variable ambiental; y la de repensar el desarrollo per se a partir de finalidades social y ambientalmente armónicas en un contexto en el que el crecimiento económico es un efecto secundario y no la variable central. El presente texto (re)plantea y discute el concepto de ecodesarrollo desde esta amplitud de propuestas de cara al contexto socio-ambiental de principios del siglo XXI y los retos que implica repensar el desarrollo de cara a la imperante necesidad de un decrecimiento biofísico.
