El brexit en Gibraltar como emisor de moneda y elusor al fisco

Abstract

La acuñación de dinero en efectivo en la colonia de Gibraltar ha constituido históricamente uno de los factores económicos que ayudan a entender el fenómeno de operatividad financiera offshore, para con el blanqueo de capitales y actividades opacas al fisco. Que se efectúan y encuentran refugio en el territorio británico. Hasta ahora, las autoridades de la Unión Europea y principalmente el Banco Central Europeo han mirado para otro lado. Ante el consiguiente perjuicio que supone la emisión monetaria local sobre las poblaciones y comarcas próximas a Gibraltar, para con el cobijo y la fuga de capitales e impuestos que se eluden desde el Estado español y otros estados. Sin embargo, y siendo muy optimista, parece ser que tras el Brexit puede existir un cambio de criterio por parte de las instituciones europeas y españolas. Aunque todavía no se ha trasladado a ninguna directiva concreta, tan solo en formalismos con respecto a la eterna cuestión de Gibraltar, y las negociaciones para la salida de Reino Unido de la UE.
