La Relación Entre La Corrupción Y La Calidad De Las Instituciones

Abstract

La literatura reciente relacionada con los determinantes del desarrollo económico muestra que es bastante evidente la gran relevancia del papel que juega la calidad de las instituciones en el desempeño de los países, pues tiene efectos directos, es decir, el efecto de las instituciones sobre el desarrollo económico, así como indirectos, es decir, el efecto de las instituciones en otras variables como el capital humano y la apertura comercial, y éstas a su vez en el desarrollo económico. Como puede pensarse, existen diversos indicadores relacionados con la calidad institucional. El presente documento pretende considerar uno de los indicadores relacionados con la calidad institucional: la corrupción, encontrando que efectivamente existe una gran relación entre la corrupción y los niveles de otros indicadores relacionados con una mejor o peor calidad institucional.
