Abstract

Un oligopolio es un grupo de empresas que dominan un mercado para abastecer a muchos demandantes. Su dominio se basa en que el conjunto de firmas determina el precio y las cantidades del bien o servicio que ofrecen. De esta manera mantienen permanentemente insatisfecha a su demanda. Se estima que existe un oligopolio cuando hay desde dos empresas (duopolio) hasta cerca de doce, capturando la oferta en un determinado mercado.
