O atraso nordestino: condicionantes ao desenvolvimento da região nordeste

Abstract

O objetivo desse artigo consiste em compreender os fatores condicionantes ao desenvolvimento socioeconômico da Região Nordeste do Brasil, a partir da análise do à ndice de Vulnerabilidade Social (IVS). De início, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico acerca da formação histórica, econômica e política do Nordeste, de modo a identificar os gargalos presentes na Região, que ocasionaram e perpetuaram a desigualdade em relação às demais áreas do país. Posteriormente, é feita uma interpretação direcionada para o IVS, que demonstra empiricamente a persistência do atraso nordestino, mesmo após a implementação de políticas de desenvolvimento regional, a partir da década de 1960. As características e o perfil de atraso relativo da região são analisados com base nas seguintes dimensões: infraestrutura urbana, capital humano e renda do trabalho.
