Programa de regionalização do turismo e o desenvolvimento regional: reflexões preliminares acerca da sua particularidade no estado do Piauí

Abstract

O Programa de Regionalização do Turismo é considerado uma política pública com enfoque territorial a partir do Plano Nacional de Turismo 2003-2007. Surge da necessidade de melhor distribuir a oferta turística do país. É relevante considerar, que anterior a sua criação, a atividade turística em nível nacional não tinha consistência em termos de coordenação, articulação e consequentemente gestão. Assim sendo, a proposta do presente artigo é analisar o desenvolvimento regional por meio do Programa de Regionalização do Turismo no Estado do Piauí. A pesquisa é do tipo qualitativa, com aplicação de entrevista estruturada à Gerente de Planejamento de Destinos e Produtos e Interlocutora do Programa no Estado. Observou-se, que o Piauí padece de alguns entraves como descontinuidade política e maiores investimentos no segmento turístico, aspectos que interferem no aproveitamento e desenvolvimento do setor.
