Abstract

Neste trabalho, fruto parcial de pesquisa bibliográfica e documental desenvolvida em nossa Tese de Doutorado, ora em produção, procurar-se-á proceder à caracterização do paradigma neoliberal/mercantil de educação, perspectiva contemporaneamente hegemônica nos países centrais, o qual subsume completamente essa esfera social aos mecanismos capitalistas de mercado, destituindo-a de seu fundamental papel de veículo do esclarecimento e da formação humana e instrumentalizando-a com vistas a destravar e acelerar a reprodução ampliada do capital, cuja acidentada dinâmica tem demonstrado a dificuldade de seu correspondente modo de produção em conciliar suas intrínsecas contradições desde o agravamento dos sintomas da crise estrutural de seu sistema sociometabólico, a partir de meados da década de 1960.
