Abstract

El nacimiento del movimiento internacionalista, desde finales del siglo XIX, tiene su punto culminante con la firma en 1945 de la Carta Fundacional de la Organización de la Naciones Unidas (ONU), en la ciudad de San Francisco. Si bien en esta Carta se recogen principios de actuación amplios y ambiciosos, no ha sido posible ver la consecución de muchos de estos. Lejos de sus objetivos y fines fundacionales, la ONU y toda su estructura se ha visto limitada por ser un instrumento más de la política hegemónica de las grandes potencias, bien a través del uso del derecho de veto por parte de los cinco miembros permanentes del Consejo de Seguridad, o bien por haber sido utilizada para legitimar ciertas intervenciones de las grandes potencias en terceros países.
