Interculturalidade E Cidades-Gêmeas: Novas Configurações Identitárias?

Abstract

Questões sobre diversidade cultural, étnica e territorial tornam-se cada vez mais presentes em nossa sociedade. Nesse contexto, áreas transfronteiriças tornam-se lócus deste tipo de discussão por apresentarem características específicas em função de sua localização geográfica. No caso das cidades-gêmeas, isto é, cidades conurbadas localizadas na faixa fronteira, como Ponta Porã (Brasil) e Pedro Juan Caballero (Paraguai), a condição de transitoriedade populacional conferem a esta fronteira um territorialidade própria, marcada por conflitos, tensões, encontros e desencontros entre os moradores locais, brasileiros e paraguaios.
