El Cuerpo De Voluntarios Españoles. Apuntes Para Su Estudio En La Jurisdicción Holguinera

Abstract

A mediados del siglo XIX, la Capitanía General organizó el Cuerpo de Voluntarios de la Isla de Cuba, un proyecto necesario y definitorio dentro del sistema defensivo cubano, que se convirtió paulatinamente en la razón de ser del integrismo como actitud o tendencia política. Los estudios sobre esta fuerza militar se han centrado en el occidente de Cuba y en especial en La Habana, siendo necesaria una mirada historiográfica más amplia hacia el mismo. La literatura consultada nos hace tener la idea que la jurisdicción holguinera en los inicios fundacionales del Cuerpo de Voluntarios no fue de las priorizadas para su establecimiento. Desde el estudio de esta literatura, se crea la idea errada de que este Cuerpo no existió o casi no tuvo trascendencia en la organización militar jurisdiccional.
