Abstract

Investigaciones arqueológicas realizadas en Moa, han confirmado la presencia aborigen en la comunidad rural de Cañete, lo que permite arribar a conclusiones sobre la existencia de topónimos vinculados a los primeros habitantes de la Isla de Cuba y establecer una relación etnocultural a partir del estudio de artefactos arqueológicos fabricados en concha de caracol, material lítico y cerámica de barro que por sus rasgos tecnotipológicos se vinculan a la cultura aruaca o Taina insular. La actividad económica fundamental, la minería, agrede de forma directa el suelo, reserva de de una valiosa información sobre nuestra historia que se puede perder por falta de investigaciones más profundas que incluyan excavaciones in situ científicamente controladas.
