Evaluación De La Sostenibilidad En Los Cultivos De Palma Africana En El Departamento Del Meta

Abstract

Al cultivo de la palma de aceite se le acusa por los problemas inherentes a los monocultivos y porque a éste en particular se le asocia con violaciones de los derechos humanos. Adicionalmente, en las plantaciones se usan formas de contratación que descargan sobre los trabajadores parte de los costos de la competitividad que exige el comercio internacional. Sin embargo, el cultivo lo defienden los palmicultores y el Gobierno Nacional porque el cultivo sería inocuo en términos ambientales y porque el cultivo es generador de trabajo. El presente artículo expone argumentos de las tendencias pertinentes para el desarrollo regional.
