Abstract

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo en el período comprendido de diciembre del 2010 a marzo del 2011, con el objetivo de caracterizar el autoconcepto en adolescentes con intento suicida que asisten a la consulta del Centro Comunitario de Salud Mental del área de salud Manicaragua. Se empleó un diseño de investigación integrador (mixto), en el que se combinan la metodología cuantitativa y la cualitativa. Los principales resultados obtenidos fueron que los adolescentes presentan dificultades en el autoconcepto, poseen sentimientos de inadecuación y actitudes negativas hacia sí mismos y hacia los demás. Las características del contexto familiar, las dificultades en la funcionabilidad, los estilos educativos están afectando el autoconcepto de los adolescentes. El sistema de relaciones y actividades en el contexto escolar están generando dificultades en la idea que los adolescentes tienen de sí mismos. El grupo de coetáneos repercute desfavorablemente en el autoconcepto, pues existen dificultades en las relaciones interpersonales, tienen pocas amistades, se sienten inferiores y rechazados
