Abstract

El estudio que se expone aborda la relación existente entre socialismo y democracia en América Latina, así como la orientación teórica del nuevo proyecto socialista del siglo XXI, desde la perspectiva del pensamiento de los clásicos del marxismo. Los análisis están sustentados en criterios de intelectuales que han estudiado los acontecimientos más recientes de la historia y política latinoamericanas entre otros se destacan Aurelio Alonso, Atilio Borón, James Petras, François Houtart, Fernando Martínez Heredia. También se muestran las apreciaciones de políticos como el presidente de la República del Ecuador, Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado, en su condición de economista, con una profunda visión del panorama económico y social latinoamericano. Se enfatiza en el pensamiento teórico y revolucionario de otras épocas, como punto de referencia para las transformaciones sociales que se llevan a cabo en la realidad presente y futura de la región. Se exponen, además, los retos y perspectivas de las democracias en América Latina y los desafíos a los que se enfrentan las fuerzas de izquierda para delinear ese modelo de democracia al que se aspira
