Introducción A La Arqueología Industrial: Origen De La Disciplina Y Metodología

Abstract

Desde su nacimiento, el concepto de Arqueología Inustrial supone la delimitación de un campo de estudio restringido, propio. Se ha definido como el estudio de la etapa de desarrollo tecnológico del modo de producción capitalista (Delgado Rivas) o como la disciplina encargada de estudiar los restos del pasado productivo, tecnológico y arquitectónico surgidos como consecuencia de la Revolución Industrial (Hernando Carrasco). Se trata, por tanto, de una disciplina autónoma que necesita una metodología propia y que pone en cuestión los aspectos más “tradicionales” de las ciencias históricas y las concepciones más “idealísticas” de la cultura (aunque perdurarán, en parte, en la propia arqueología industrial condicionando su desarrollo disciplinar).
