Abstract

Una de las epidemias sociales de mayor y más rápida extensión de nuestro siglo es el problema mundial que se presenta con el uso indebido de las drogas. Dicho fenómeno representa una grave amenaza para la salud y el bienestar de los seres humanos a la vez que resquebraja las bases económicas, culturales y políticas de la sociedad. Por otro lado convierte en víctimas a poblaciones enteras, apropiándose de los segmentos más débiles como adolescente, mujeres y niños. Está en juego la salud de la población, en especial, la salud mental; la educación; los modelos sociales a seguir por la juventud; los valores éticos compartidos por el conjunto de la población; el desarrollo económico.
