Apuntes Para Un Estudio Del Diseño Industrial

Abstract

La máquina es quizá el factor dominante de nuestra época. Desde la primera mitad del XIX se desarrolla une nuevo sistema de acción sobre la materia y de producción de objetos permitiendo la multiplicación de objetos consecuencia de la producción en serie. El diseño industrial es así la forma característica de la producción de objetos de la sociedad industrial, es decir, la proyectación de objetos fabricados industrialmente, o, lo que es lo mismo, fabricados por medio de máquinas y en serie. Durante mucho tiempo dominó una actitud negativa hacia esta actividad creadora. Esta situación no cambia hasta finales del XIX y sobre todo ya en el XX cuando las vanguardias históricas va a dar el paso decisivo para el diseño industrial al ensalzar al objeto técnico en sí mismo. Pero a diferencia del proyecto vanguardista la sociedad de consumo resultado del diseño industrial ha resultado menos un mundo de proyectistas que un mundo de programados.
