La Revolución Del Trasporte Y La “Arquitectura Del Hierro”

Abstract

La importancia de los medios de transporte y las vías de comunicación es básica en el proceso de industrialización. Ya en la Francia del XVIII se desarrolla un sistema de comunicaciones para el transporte de mercancías y personas relativamente extenso y articulado. El desarrollo productivo del XIX es inseparable de la aparición de un nuevo medio de transporte: el ferrocarril. Junto a él las carreteras y obras de canalización, éstos directamente vinculados a las exigencias de la producción en los orígenes de la industrialización y las primeras, convertidas en autopistas de numerosos carriles, que dejan una importante huella en el territorio. Estas infraestructuras transformarán radicalmente a las formas y a los espacios arquitectónicos, en definitiva contribuirán de forma fundamental a crear una nueva arquitectura, que de hecho se desarrollará durante todo el siglo XIX solamente en éstos ámbitos considerados ajenos o marginales a la “Arquitectura”.
