Breve Historia De La Construcción De Las Ferrocarriles Carboneros En La Provincia De León

Abstract

El despegue de la minería del carbón en la provincia de León solo será posible con la construcción de dos ferrocarriles de vía estrecha que se van a construir con ese objetivo. El ferrocarril de La Robla a Valmaseda fue uno de los primeros ferrocarriles de vía estrecha que se construyeron, además del más largo con 340 km., fue promovido por los empresarios vascos con intereses en la siderometalurgia vizcaína. El ferrocarril entre Ponferrada y Villablino se va a construir en 1918 con la creación de la MSP empresa de solvencia indiscutible, cuyos miembros pertenecían a la aristocracia o estaban fuertemente vinculados a la banca.
