Breve Historia De La Construcción Del Ferrocarril En La Provincia De León Y Su Importancia (Negativa) En La Minería Del Carbón

Abstract

La euforia constructiva del ferrocarril que se desata en España a mediados del siglo XIX se va a materializar en la provincia de León en la construcción de dos líneas que atraviesan la provincia: las líneas de Galicia y de Asturias. La línea de Galicia se propone como un ramal que partía de la de Madrid a Irún desde Palencia por León; Ponferrada, Quiroga y Lugo hasta la Coruña. La línea León-Gijón se trazó por La Robla continuando por la Pola de Gorgón y Busdongo. Por lo que, en términos generales, el trazado del ferrocarril no respondió a las necesidades de las explotación minera, al no facilitar la salida del carbón desde la proximidad de las explotaciones.
