Abstract
El término competencia procede de “competente”, término incluido en los primeros trabajos de N. Chomsky sobre la “forma del lenguaje”. Es un concepto clave en su teoría ya que ésta es universal, independiente de cada lengua, y explica la habilidad humana para aprender la primera lengua, cualquiera que ésta sea. La teoría explica la competencia (competente), intuición consciente o no, del hablante nativo (su conocimiento de la lengua como hablante- oyente ideal).
