Cubanos en Harvard. Rumbo al norte. El programa académico. (Segunda parte)

Abstract

Posterior a la ocupación militar de la isla de Cuba el gobierno interventor tomó una serie de medidas, entre ellas reformas en el sector educacional, un grupo de maestros fueron enviados a Estados Unidos, a la Universidad de Harvard a pasar un curso de verano, para los nuevos métodos y estilos de la sociedad que nos imponían en aquel momento. La poca preparación de los docentes trajo como resultado que además de esta iniciativa se abrieran Escuelas Normales de Veranos en todas las provincias del país donde estos recibían preparación en diversas materias. A pesar de la estancia de estos maestros en Estados Unidos el sentimiento patriótico de amor a la patria y sus símbolos se hizo más arraigado.
