La diabetes infantil y su repercusión en el rendimiento académico

Abstract

La diabetes es una de las enfermedades crónicas más frecuentes en la edad pediátrica es muy posible que cada profesor tenga en su clase, a lo largo de su vida profesional, algún niño o adolescente con este trastorno, por lo cual es necesario que el docente conozca algunos aspectos de la misma para crear la integración e inclusión social, segura y afectiva del niño con diabetes. Lo ideal es que la escuela esté preparada para atender a niños con diabetes, y que los padres formen parte de todo este proceso, facilitando información al centro escolar. El niño afectado por la diabetes es una persona con un gran potencial de desarrollo en tanto cuente con el apoyo necesario para que su progreso evolutivo no sea afectado por la enfermedad, para lo cual se deben integrar los diversos contextos que lo rodean, adaptándolos a sus necesidades, tratamiento médico y educativo para que su rendimiento académico no se vea mermado.
