El nuevo rol de las universidades ecuatorianas en la producción de conocimiento

Abstract

La universidad ecuatoriana estuvo dedicada a la docencia, teniendo como su única función la formación de profesionales, sin considerar espacios para la investigación, la generación de conocimiento, ciencia y tecnología; recién a partir del año 2007, en el que asume la Presidencia de la República el Ec. Rafael Correa, se inicia una reforma seria al Sistema de Educación Superior de Ecuador, con la cual, en base a la actual Constitución de la República del Ecuador, se expidió, la Ley Orgánica de Educación Superior y el Código Orgánico de la Economía Social del Conocimiento e Innovación. En este marco, también, se crearon varias instituciones encargadas de la evaluación, acreditación y asesoramiento a las universidades, se inyectó importantes montos de dinero en desarrollo del talento humano, infraestructura y equipamiento, buscando mejorar el nivel académico y erradicar la desvinculación de las instituciones de educación superior con el desarrollo de la sociedad, a través de la generación de conocimiento que se transforme en aporte práctico a la cultura, la técnica y la industria.
