Abstract

El Centro Universitario Municipal de Viñales tiene dentro de sus prioridades de trabajo la gestión ambiental en el territorio. Desarrolló en coordinación con el Parque Nacional Viñales, el Diplomado Formación de Gestores para el Desarrollo Sostenible en à reas Protegidas, a través del cual propició la formación de gestores ambientales comunitarios, con el desarrollo en ellos de competencias cognitivas, técnicas, investigativas, comunicativas y de liderazgo, que colaboren con la vigilancia ambiental detectando impactos negativos en el medio debido a modificaciones Antrópicas, así como en el desarrollo de acciones participativas para la educación ambiental de la población, coadyuvando al desarrollo económico y social de la localidad sobre bases sostenibles, y a la conservación de los valores naturales, culturales y paisajísticos por los cuales el Valle de Viñales ostenta la categoría de Patrimonio de la Humanidad en la categoría de Paisaje Cultural.
