Abstract

A iminente crise ambiental seus desafios a serem cumpridos pela humanidade é a justificativa pelo presente estudo deste artigo científico, pois além de soluções técnicas, requer soluções educacionais que se configurem na construção de conhecimentos, desenvolvimento de mudanças de hábitos, internalização de novos valores e atitudes que contribuam para a superação dos problemas apresentados. A educação ambiental não é uma atividade recente no Brasil. Ela recebeu variadas denominações, no entanto, o seu conceito geral de meio para a preservação ambiental ou da natureza é anterior à Conferência de Estocolmo. Embora o tema ambiental ganhe mais espaço, historicamente a relação da universidade com as questões associadas ao meio ambiente tem sido difícil.
