    La deserción escolar, la repitencia en el primer grado de educación básica, junto con los problemas de comprensión lectora y la fobia hacia la matemática constituye una situación frecuente que se observan en nuestro sistema educativo. Si desde educación inicial se trabaja con énfasis en la adquisición de competencias básicas para la lecto-escritura y el cálculo, los niños tendrían mayores probabilidades de éxito en el siguiente nivel y por lo tanto se minimizarían los problemas arriba señalados.
