Abstract

Este documento presenta una revisión breve de la literatura sobre la problemática de la deserción escolar, enfocándose primeramente en su definición. Posteriormente, se hace un resumen del problema de la deserción que existe tanto en América Latina como en México. Dado que la educación es un activo sumamente importante para el desarrollo de los países y ver como la deserción afecta los niveles de educación de las personas, se revisa la literatura más sobresaliente, enfocada principalmente de cómo la educación está relacionada con ciertas variables macroeconómicas, tales como crecimiento económico, desigualdad del ingreso y pobreza. Finalmente se analiza el material necesario para responder a preguntas como: ¿Cuáles son los factores qué motivan la deserción? ¿Cómo se puede reducir la deserción?
