Colecciones de arte primitivo en museos de carácter público en España

Abstract

El artículo trata la cuestión de la ausencia de grandes colecciones etnográficas en los museos públicos de España. Para abordar la cuestión se introduce la fructífera relación entre arte primitivo y vanguardia gracias a la cual este tipo de arte se revaloriza, tanto desde el punto de la forma del objeto, como de su importancia a fin de tipología artística. A continuación, se trata el origen de las colecciones etnográficas en general y se revisa, brevemente, el caso de España. Las conclusiones apuntan a posibles vías de investigación para resolver la cuestión de la escasez de colecciones de arte primitivo y su posible influencia en las producciones de la vanguardia española.
