Abstract

This paper develops an analytic framework from which we infer that, if the Mexican Revolution of 1910 would have not taken place, the process of capital accumulation will have follow its curse. After a number of year’s excess labour would have disappeared, wages would started to rise, the domestic market would have grown and the economy would have change from one exporter of row materials to one capital intensive export oriented one. The process of capital accumulation would not have been stopped for twenty-five years after the Revolution as it did. Second World War would have been found Mexico with a more developed industrial economy. The country would have taken a better economic advantage of this conflict and, perhaps, we would never have adopted a strategy of industrialization via import substitution.
