Crecimiento económico en la América Latina. Estudio basado en el modelo neoclásico

Abstract

This paper tries to analyze the Latin American growth experience between 1960 and 1990, using as analytical background the transition dynamic of an extension of the neoclassical growth model. Using Panel Data Estimation, confirmation is found of the empirical validity of the neoclassical model. The model also explains quite well the differences in growth between countries and time periods. The model and the estimations are used to make inferences on issues such as convergence, factor shares and GDP gap.// Este ensayo busca analizar la experiencia de crecimiento de la América Latina entre 1960 y 1990, usando como base analítica la dinámica de transición de una extensión del modelo neoclásico. Por medio del uso de un panel de datos se confirman las predicciones del modelo, el cual explica bastante bien las diferencias en crecimientos entre los países e intervalos considerados. Igualmente, el modelo y las estimaciones son utilizados para inferir aspectos como la convergencia, la participación de los factores y la brecha del producto interno bruto.
