Los regímenes de política y la inestabilidad económica en un modelo de expectativas racionales de la economía mexicana

Abstract

Introducción. Para afrontar la hiperinflación que empezara a afectar la economía mexicana en 1982, el gobierno mexicano ha implantado tres programas antinflacionarios de naturaleza y fundamento teórico similares a otros programas implantados previamente en la Argentina, el Brasil e Israel. El primer programa antinflancionario mexicano(Programa Inmediato de Recuperación Económica, PIRE) se basaba en: i)una elevación del impuesto al valor agregado de 10 a 15%, y ii)un sistema de tipo de cambio doble bien publicitado en el que se suponía que un tipo de cambio controlado impondría un tope de 32% a la inflación interna. Este nunca funcionó porque el impuesto al valor agragado y las expectativas acerca del tipo de cambio atizaron la inflación. La experiencia ganada con la implantación del PIRE sirvió para elaborar paquetes antinflacionarios más coherentes...
