Abstract

Crisis ecológica: Un desafío a la economía mundial. Desde principios de los años setenta el mundo se ha tornado cada vez más sensible a los temas relativos al medio ambiente. Hoy, se cierne sobre el mundo una crisis ecológica de diversas dimensiones, que afecta a todos los países y que podría poner en peligro los sistemas sustentadores de la vida del planeta. Se caracteriza por un empobrecimiento de la capa de ozono; una acumulación sustancial de gases invernadero generadores de un cambio climático; una aceleración de la degradación de la calidad del agua, suelo y aire; la acumulación de desechos industriales y domésticos; el agotameinto de la base de recursos naturales del planeta y la pérdida de la biodiversidad. Las causas básicas de estos hechos son altos índices de crecimiento demográfico y pobreza en los países en desarrollo y los patrones de uso energético y consumo indiscriminado en los países industrializados...
