Abstract

I. Introducción. En este ensayo se analiza una industria de un recurso no renovable integrada por una mezcla de empresas, algunas de las cuales actúan como un cártel mientras que otras actúan de manera competitiva. El cártel, llamado en este ensayo la empresa dominante, satisface una gran parte de la demanda total pero no de su totalidad. En consecuencia sus decisiones afectan los precios del producto en los diversos periodos, es decir, la empresa dominante tiene poder en la determinación de los precios. El sector competitivo satisface el resto de la demanda. Este sector está integrado por un número grande, digamos infinito, de empresas muy pequeñas que responden de manera pasiva a las expectativas de los precios, no teniendo poder en la determinación de ellos. este trabajo aborda el problema de la estrategia de producción óptima de la empresa dominante considerando, entre otras cosas, cómo el sector competitivo reacciona a los diversos planes de la empresa dominante...
